Privacy Policy

The short version

This is a free calculator. It does not have accounts, it does not ask for your name, email, or address, and it does not sell anything about you to anyone. Your appliance selections stay in your own browser. No account is required and none exists. One first-party analytics cookie is used to count page views, and it is described under cookies below.

What is stored on your device

When you pick appliances in the calculator, those selections are saved in your browser's local storage so that your work is still there if you close the tab or come back later. This data:

• stays on your device and is never transmitted to us,
• is not linked to your identity in any way,
• can be cleared at any time using the "Reset all" button in the calculator, or by clearing your browser data.

The same applies to the solar and power station calculator, which saves your device list, quantities, run hours, and wattages the same way.

What is not collected

This site does not collect or request:

• your name, email address, phone number, or mailing address,
• payment or financial information of any kind,
• any account credentials, because there are no accounts,
• your precise location.

The calculator performs all of its math in your browser. Your appliance list is never uploaded to a server.

Affiliate links and the Amazon Associates program

This site participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. When you click a product link and buy something, the site may earn a commission. This costs you nothing extra and does not change the price you pay.

Because those links go to Amazon, Amazon may set its own cookies and collect information about your visit under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. Amazon's privacy notice is available at amazon.com/privacy. We do not receive your name, address, or payment details from Amazon, only aggregate commission reporting.

Affiliate links on this site are standard product links. We do not use them to track you across other websites.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count page views and see which calculators and guides get used. It sets first-party cookies whose names start with _ga. The data is aggregate: page counts, referring site, device type, and country. IP addresses are anonymized, the measurement is not linked to any account or name, and it is not used for advertising or sold to anyone.

You can block it with any content blocker or by clearing cookies, and the calculators keep working exactly the same. Nothing about your appliance selections is ever sent to analytics.

Third parties reached through outbound links, such as Amazon, may set their own cookies once you arrive on their site. Those are governed by their policies.

Server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel, which like most hosting providers may keep standard technical request logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested. These are used for security and for keeping the site running, not to build a profile of individual visitors.

Children's privacy

This site is a tool for homeowners planning backup power. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Your choices

Because no personal data is collected or stored on our side, there is nothing to request, export, or delete from us. If you want to remove the selections saved on your device, use the "Reset all" button in the calculator or clear your browser's stored data for this site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will be updated. Material changes, such as adding analytics, would be reflected here before or when they take effect.

Disclaimer

Generator sizing results on this site are estimates for planning purposes. Always verify rated running and starting watts against the generator's nameplate, and consult a licensed electrician before installing or connecting a generator or transfer switch. Never run a generator indoors or in an enclosed space.
